A true kitchen table start-up, Evermore London has evolved into an internationally stocked candle and fragrance brand, all while remaining rooted in sustainable, beautiful rituals. Founder Sarah Bell tells Jessica Jonzen more

EVERMORE LONDON FOUNDER, SARAH BELL, AT HOME
Founded in 2014 by Sarah Bell, Evermore London began as a subtly radical idea: to create a sustainable luxury candle in a market where little of its kind existed. Then working in social media and content, Sarah found herself yearning for a more creative, hands-on career path and so, armed with a candle-making kit ordered online, she began experimenting at her East London kitchen table. Production soon moved to her spare bedroom, before she settled into a dedicated studio.
Today stocked internationally, Evermore London has expanded beyond candles into diffusers, soap bars and smokeless incense, with six signature scents inspired by the natural world, the seasons and the sky. This affinity informs every aspect of the brand, where environmental responsibility is central – guiding daily decisions across design, sourcing and production, with a commitment to leaving as little impact on the planet as possible. The fact that each piece would look strikingly beautiful in any home is an added bonus.
Here, Sarah tells us more.

Can you tell us more about what inspired you to set up Evermore?
Back in 2014, I was looking to do something more hands-on, something that felt a little bit slower than my full-time work. I was struggling to find candles that were both truly clean and beautifully presented, so I started experimenting myself at home – melting wax in my kitchen and testing scents late at night. What began as a personal project grew into Evermore, and over time, I realised it combined everything I valued: nature, design, storytelling and self-care.
How did that hands-on beginning shape the brand?
That early hands-on process still defines everything we do. Learning how each element behaves, from how a wax carries fragrance to how a wick burns, gave me a strong foundation in the process. It means our decisions are informed and intentional. Even though I’m not in the studio pouring candles myself, I have the solid background to guide the team. My love for experimenting with fragrances has continued to grow. I’m honing this craft whilst working on a number of creative briefs for private clients.
How do you tend to compose a new fragrance – does it start with a place, a material or more of a feeling?
It usually begins with a feeling, but I’m always looking for tension within that. I’m drawn to contrast, pairing materials that wouldn’t immediately be expected together and finding a balance between them. That might be something soft with something more structured, or warmth against something fresher. The process is about creating a composition that feels intriguing and slightly unfamiliar, but still resolved and easy to live with.

Scent can completely shift the atmosphere of a room. What do you notice first when you walk into a space that feels good?
To me, it’s a sense of ease. Nothing feels overworked. The light, the materials and the scent all sit naturally together. Fragrance should feel part of the space rather than something that dominates it. When it works, you notice the feeling before the scent itself.
Everything is still made and packed by hand in your London studio. What does that closeness to the process give you?
It keeps us closely connected to what we’re making. Being involved at every stage allows us to maintain consistency and care. It also means we can refine things continuously and respond quickly when something can be improved. That proximity gives the brand a more personal quality, which is what makes the brand, and our private client services feel special.
Sustainability runs through everything you do. Has that way of working changed how you think about luxury?
Completely. For us, luxury is about integrity and longevity rather than excess. It’s about using better materials, producing in smaller quantities and creating pieces that people want to keep. Sustainability is not an added layer, it shapes the decisions we make daily.

Your fragrances sit very naturally within interiors. Do you think of them as part of the design of a space?
Yes, very much so. Scent is often the final layer in a space. It completes it in a way that isn’t visual but still deeply felt. We design our fragrances to sit quietly within interiors, to enhance rather than distract. For me personally, I feel scent should feel as considered as any other object in a room.
What sets Evermore apart from other natural candle brands?
We approach everything with a considered, design-led eye, from the composition of each fragrance to the way it sits within a space, but there is also a more intuitive side to the brand, something atmospheric that’s harder to define. We are a founder and family-led business, and that closeness shapes the way we work. There’s a level of care and attention that runs through everything, from the packaging to the final pour.
We also take a more thoughtful approach to ingredients. Rather than working exclusively with natural materials, we use a balance of natural and synthetic, allowing us to create more nuanced fragrances while also making more responsible choices from an environmental perspective. The result is something that feels luxurious, layered and a little bit magical.
