Sculptural vintage armoires brimming with recycled glassware and pretty apothecary jars rub shoulders with rustic reclaimed wooden benches piled high with shaggy sheepskins, macramé pillows and foliage-filled earthenware urns. Intricate framed sea fans hang alongside giant antique mirrors overlooking stately reclaimed wooden dining tables laid beautifully for supper. While, overhead, the arcadian beams of this beautiful 17th century tithe barn meet at a lofty peak.
Affectionately dubbed by its owners, ‘the new curiosity shop’, Home Barn vintage and furniture store in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, is an impeccably-styled interiors destination with sustainability at its heart. Here, you will find natural woodgrains, authentic dents, striking patinas and rustic aged items that boast limitless charm and a story to tell. Music to our ears!
Celebrating its tenth birthday this year, owners Sarah and Sally Wilkie explain: “We created Home Barn together in 2010 as an outlet for our combined creative talents. We both had an eye for vintage and antiques and were always being asked by friends to find them things similar to those we had in our own homes.
“We also had a desire to work for ourselves, to do something rewarding and inspiring whilst also being able to enjoy life with our families. We realised that between us we had the skills and experience to turn our passion for vintage into a business and Home Barn was born.”
Alongside their ever-changing collections of carefully sourced vintage and antique furniture and curiosities and largely plastic-free decorative items, Sarah and Sally also work with local craftspeople to create their own line of bespoke items.
Among Home Barn’s most popular bespoke pieces are their casually elegant reclaimed dining tables which are traditionally constructed from salvaged solid timber.
If you can’t make it to the barn itself, which we highly recommend, almost all of their stock is for sale via the Home Barn online store.
