  • We just love this quote written by @bethlynchauthor from her beautiful book Where the Hornbeam Grows. One of our favourite summer reads, it’s a subtle and moving tale about putting down roots, finding your place in the world and what home truly means.   • So much of the pleasure we get from our homes comes from the way they make us feel. And of all the emotions we want our homes to provoke in us, surely ‘happiness’ is the most essential. Don’t you agree? According to research carried out by Kingfisher and the Happiness Research Institute, 73% of people who are happy with their home are also happy in their lives. That’s a pretty bold finding.   • Ros here - hope you’ve had a wonderful weekend. I’m at the stage in my house renovation where I’ve reached serious decision overload. With an avalanche of tiny details to consider (some of which I truly have no idea about) this weekend I’ve been ignoring the big stuff and instead concentrating on the pretty stuff. Starting with bathroom tiles. Pink and green ones to be precise. And, boy, have we featured some stunners over on The Home Page website lately.   • Bonjour! It’s Jess here in (fairly) sunny France where I’m on holiday this week with my family. We’ve broken up our drive down to Bordeaux with a stay at @lebarnhotel - a gorgeous hotel in the Rambouillet forest 50 minutes drive from Paris. With beautiful interiors by Parisian studio @bepoles it feels like you’re hanging out at a friend’s chic country house. There’s a lovely spa for the grown-ups and the kids were kept happy with bikes, games and the resident dog, Clarke. You can book in for a horse riding lesson too, but given that I’ve not been on a horse for 20 years I thought I’d give it a miss!   • There’s something about this damp, grey and distinctly unsummery weather we have round our way today that is making us just want to hibernate. So we’re planning a night in on the sofa... Who’s with us? Which made us remember this absolute lip-smacker of a dish that has been one of most popular recipes we’ve featured on The Home Page.
