This beautiful glasshouse, styled by Selina Lake, proves that even a practical space for growing can be transformed into a wonderfully stylish and relaxing place to spend time. Its lofty proportions are celebrated with tall trees and glass pendants, while natural materials such as terracotta, stone, rattan and wood are used to stunning effect.

Balconies can be transformed with stylish cladding, built-in seating and a simple burst of colour. This exotic Farrow & Ball Rangwali pink, which takes its name from the powder which is thrown during the Holi festival of colours in India, looks especially cheery even on a grey day.

This fantastic workshop hasn’t been dressed up or glossed over; the raw wood, dusty floor and cracked tiling all add to its charm. More traditional decor ideas, such as shelving, wall-hung prints, a comfy seat and planting add a softer edge, creating a welcoming space.

Garden rooms don’t necessarily need to have walls – this wooden arbour trailed with plants provides a cosy canopy under which to dine. The festoon lights add a magical touch to this atmospheric little corner of the garden.

Back to Selina Lake’s beautiful styling for Alitex and this dining area is all kinds of gorgeous. She uses accessories not typically associated with the outdoors – such as neon lighting, cushions, mirrors, framed art and fringed glass pendants – to create a vibrant space from where her dinner guests can stargaze after dark.
