From brightly framed arched glazing, to bare wood ceilings and multi-level living; the annual Don’t Move, Improve! competition is a positive treasure trove of design inspiration, particularly kitchen extension ideas.
Held by New London Architecture (NLA), the competition celebrates the “most innovative home improvement projects” across London. We have scoured the 15 homes on the 2022 shortlist, selected from over 200 entries, to share our favourite kitchen extension ideas which we hope will inspire you to think creatively about your next home renovation project.
Among the key trends identified in this year’s entries were indoor outdoor living spaces, statement ceilings, colourful structures and bold shapes, as well as designs that make a feature of wood and other natural materials.
NLA director and chair of the judges, Amy Chadwick Till says: “This year’s submissions delighted our jury with innovative approaches to structure, layout, materials and colour.
“Don’t Move, Improve! aims to encourage great domestic-scale design across the city, so we are really pleased to have another shortlist that showcases a wide range of budgets, building styles, locations and home-owner needs.”
